From feather eyebrows to rainbow brows, eyebrows have been the forefront of makeup looks for the last 5 years. Having the desirable fuller and thicker brow look is something all makeup wearers want to achieve.
More permanent options are available (such as micro blading and makeup tattooing) but for those of us who are on a budget, these things are just out of the affordable reach.
However, lasting brow gels are becoming a staple piece of makeup to add into your collection for their lasting effects. As someone who has long working days, goes running and to the occasional party, I'm wanting a product which doesn't need touching up constantly (or with the worry of it dripping down my face by the end of the evening).

As someone who has long working days, goes running and to the occasional party, I'm wanting a product which doesn't need touching up constantly (or with the worry of it dripping down my face by the end of the evening).
So, I'm going to be putting two lasting brow gels to the test.
The first being Wunderbrow, a product I have used in the past versus L'Oreal's new Unbelieva'brow.

The Basic Information
I picked up the Wunderbrow from my local Boots store for a hefty price tag of £19.95, in the shade brunette. As a student, it seemed a bit pricey. But for a product which is meant to stay put for up to three days, then I think I can stretch my budget for the week. |
The Unbeliva'brow was the cheaper alternative out of the two, with the product only costing me £11.99 (instead of the original price of £14.99). I got the shade in dark brunette as the brown looked to have grey tones. However, my hair colour is a light brunette, so this might be an issue in the long run. |
Application
Having a product which applies smoothly can change the whole user experience. I'm sure I can vouch for every makeup lover when you'd rather something works your way first time, instead of struggling from the word go.
The Wunderbrow gel comes with a paint brush type applicator which to some may feel odd to use for a brow product (including myself). To make life a whole lot easier, I prefer to use a double ended brow brush to get a more precise finish on my brows. This brush was bought separately from the brow product.
The L'Oreal Unbelieva'brow came in a similar pot, but the applicator looks more like a lip gloss applicator. The product comes with its own spoolie and angle brush, something which the Wunderbrow lacked.
However, the Unbelieva'brow formula was very tacky and sticky in comparison to its competitor.
Personally based off the above, I much preferred the application of the Wunderbrow product. It was a smooth application from bottle to brow, which made the experience all the more easier for me.

The Longevity Test
The whole premise of these products is to last for more than one evening without sliding off of your face at the end of the night. But do these products really promise what they say on the packaging?
According to the description on the Boots website, the Wunderbrow gel is "a new one-step solution which allows women to easily fill, define and shape their brows with natural looking colour that lasts for days."
However, after one shower - my brows had vanished! There was some product clinging on for life at the arches of my brows where the most hair is, but any skin that it was originally latched onto had disappeared.

Next up to the podium, the Unbeliva'brow gel.
According to the Boots website, L'Oreal states that their brow gel is "The ultra-fast drying formula sets in just 90 seconds to create an eyebrow look that last from AM to PM, without budging. Smudge-proof, transfer-proof and waterproof brows that last as long as you -no touch ups needed!"
Although I was sceptical of the colouring of product, it started to grow on me as the day went on. I found that in my arches it became quite sparse in areas, unlike the Wunderbrow gel which clung on for its life in this area of my brows.
But, what surprised me is that the Unbelieva'brow gel stayed on after showering - something which its competitor couldn't do.

The Verdict
Overall, I think lasting brow gels work for a 24 hour wear period. Personally, I don't think the formulas of either of these products are quite there yet to last more than one day. However, for an everyday eyebrow product, I definitely have preferred using a liquid gel over a pomade.
If I had to chose a product to continue to use, it would be the Unbelieva'brow gel by L'Oreal.
The price tag is within a budget for a student like myself, the application (although tacky) is not terrible to apply. A word of warning is to use little at a time so you can build a natural brow look up. Even if I had issues with the colouring to start with, it is something which I can change next time if I re-buy the product.
You can get your hands on the Wunderbrow 1 Step Brow Gel or the Unbelieva'brow Gel from their direct links or in pharmacies such as Boots or Superdrug.
