Concealer: the best friend in anyone's makeup bag with a variety of uses. Whether it's to cover that surprise morning pimple, cover the exhaustion of the night before or help you "highlight to the gods" it's a staple object needed in your makeup routines.
When Tarte released the Shape Tape concealer, I don't think even they were ready for how quickly the product would blow up in the beauty community.
With a current review on Tarte Cosmetics at a 4.8 stars out of 5, everyone was excited when Tarte announced that they were going to release their very own foundation under the same name. However, the launch was shortly shut down after this image graced the internet:

Yikes. A shade range which didn't come across as clearly as Tarte would've hoped.
Now, I'm a pale girl myself and long to find the right match for my pasty complexion but even I think the shade range was very limited for such a big brand, especially when their concealer appealed to a large audience.
Needless to say the foundation was taken off the shelves after the likes of Jeffree Star, James Charles and Lauren Curtis were quick to address the questionable shade range.

But Tarte didn't stay in the dark for long this time.
It seems that the new foundation has been brought back on the shelves with an impressive 50 shade range (35 more than the original release) with 5 undertones available for each shade
After announcing the release on their Instagram page on the 5th February 2019 with the tagline of "you asked, we listened" the new foundation is going to be vegan, waterproof, sweat-roof and transfer proof.

My thoughts?
I've yet to get my hands on Tarte's Shape Tape Concealer (trust me, I've been eyeing it up for YEARS) and when the foundation was originally launched I was very intrigued to try.
But after seeing the shade range, I felt like there was not much choice for everyone and I didn't want to support something which had such little variety for people of colour.
I'm looking forward to hearing the reviews from beauty gurus to see how the foundation lives up to its new formula.
The Face Tape is yet to be launched across Tarte's website, but once the reviews are out I'll be deciding on whether to dip into my student finance or not...
